The Regional Poison Control Center, Dammam was the first of its kind to be established in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1984. It was the outcome of comprehensive plans made by the Ministry of Health, to ensure the best quality health care services were made available to the people of Saudi Arabia.
The Poison Control Center is located near Dammam Medical Tower and adjacent to the Directorate of Health Affairs in Eastern Province. The Center is well-equipped with modern instrumental techniques. It is run by highly qualified and skilled staff members. The Regional Poison Center has been established to provide information on the toxicity of drugs in humans and provide advice on diagnosis and management of poisoning cases on a 24-hour basis.
In 2012, the Regional Poison Control Center started operating the Evidence analyser. The laboratory processes around 3,000 cases annually. The specimens most commonly used are whole blood, urine, vitreous humour, tissue and forensic samples.
“We have completed extensive evaluation of the performance and the turnaround time using the Randox Toxicology Evidence analyser and have found it to give fast and reliable results in comparison to other available immunoassay analyzers.
Randox Toxicology has proven itself in a very short period of time with its wide range of drugs detected and the level of service and support showed by their local team in the country. Randox Toxicology Biochip Array Technology is ideal for work place drug testing. ”
