Acetaminophen – Therapeutic Drug Monitoring

Acetaminophen is one of the most common analgesics and antipyretics (fever reducers) available over the counter. It is generally regarded as safe. However, it is also the most common cause of toxic hepatitis in North America and Europe and one of the most common poisonings from either accidental or intentional overdose.

Acetaminophen monitoring can determine if an overdose has occurred and if an antidote is required; to assess the risk of liver damage and to help monitor the outcome of antidote treatment.

Randox Toxicology have developed a new acetaminophen single-plex biochip assay which is available on the Evidence MultiSTAT, to aid in the monitoring of acetaminophen at the location of treatment.

Benefits

null

Quick and Accurate Results

Rapid results in <25 minutes facilitate early toxicity detection, reducing acute liver failure and transplant needs.
null

Early Antidote Intervention

Real-time data helps clinicians quickly determine whether the
antidote N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is needed within the critical 8-hour window.
null

Flexible Sample Types

Clinicians can use serum or plasma samples based on availability, reducing delays and improving patient care.
null

Test Patients as Needed

No batch processing allows on-demand testing, reducing wastage and wait times for results
null

Improved Patient Outcomes

Fast analysis at the location of treatment allows for timely clinical decisions and better patient management.
null

No Advanced Skills Required
