Bucks County Commended for Choosing a Tool That Helps Provide Answers to Families Faster.

Bucks County Coroner’s Office has recently installed an Evidence MultiSTAT within their office to achieve faster and more cost-effective testing. First Deputy Coroner Scott Croop said in a recent news story that the system will allow the office to get toxicology tests back quickly and enable families to learn more about their loved one’s death without having to wait many weeks.

The office presently spends around $200,000 per year on toxicology tests and results can take at least six weeks, Croop said. The Randox Evidence MultiSTAT is expected to rapidly lower their cost per toxicology test and take just 31 minutes to return results.

With more than 300 overdose deaths last year, the coroner’s office would like to get results quicker and provide that information to law enforcement agencies and families, Campi stated.

Commissioners Chairperson Diane Ellis-Marseglia commended the office for choosing a tool that will help provide answers to families more quickly. Commissioner Bob Harvie also mentioned that the device will assist law enforcement, particularly in identifying any dangerous batches of drugs circulating in the county.
